1/27 Weekly Blurb

Hi Everyone,

This past week Kyle, Bri, and Hunter participated in the Bubblegum Olympics. The first event was to try to spit their gum into a hula hoop. Kyle and Hunter both managed to bounce their gum in the hula hoop but that is as close as anyone came. The second event was using bubble gum to create a hair do in Barbies' hair. My sister Danielle came in to judge and determined that Hunters hairdo was most creative with Bri in second, and kyle in third. The third and final event was who could blow the biggest bubble and Bri took home the gold.

From this we learned that everyone started with the same exact amount of gum, the same as God's power is always the same. The reason that some people are more successful in blowing the biggest bubble, or more successful in having faith, is how you use what you receive even though everyone starts with the same amount. Next we talked about a women who was hurt and believed that if she was to simply touch Jesus clothing she would be healed, and she was. We determined that she was healed because she recognized his power, acted out by Kyle flexing his muscles, she revered him, acted out by Bri bowing, and her being able to reach out for help, acted out by Hunter reaching up to the sky. They had to do these actions every time Elise or I said Jesus the rest of class.

We then did a couple of papers, one on rating who we seek when we need advice or help. Mostly we answered that we turned to our parents and our best friends because those are the people we trust the most. Yet, we also turn to God when we are in need, actually it was not on the paper but as requested by our students we added it. The last thing we did was did a paper on asking God to help our unbelief as in Mark 9:24, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief." We each had different needs, some of the students took the paper home with them to remind them and others left them up on the board in our classroom.

I encourage everyone to come up next week and check out our room. There are papers and other projects we have done, i.e. the Barbie dolls, all over the room. It's just a glimpse, like this web page, into our class.

Hope to see everyone next Sunday as long as the next Nor'easter doesn't snow me in.

12/23 through 1/20 Weekly Blurb Summary

This blurb is very overdue, so it shall be long to make up for missing so much.

Okay so the Christmas program went amazing on December 23.

December 30th we talked about how we can say thank you to God. Helping others is a good way to say thank you to God.

January 6th I am at the moment drawing a blank, maybe someone could help me. I think it had something to do with writing with our feet and trying to walk on our hands, why I do not know. I do know that we started a new book, so it was about one of the miracles of Jesus.

January 13th was about breaking rules. We had 14 people in our class and the high school class joined us because Gail was sick. We shared are chairs and stories about breaking rules. We watched Babe, the part when he sneaks into the house with the goose and thus breaks a rule. We talked about how Jesus broke rules but he understood why they were in place and what service they were to provide. He broke them to make a point.

January 20th we learned about obituaries and wrote our own. Jesus knew what his obituary would say as soon as he was born, he knew that he was going to die on the cross for us. We also made pie charts of our lives and cut out slices of it to make more room for God.

That’s about all I can remember. Hopefully there will now be one every week, I will try my very best! Next week bubblegum Olympics! The week after that Celebration Station! Hope to see you soon.

Have a great week!

12/16 Weekly Blurb

There was no Sunday School this week. Hope everyone has fun in the snow! Practice was great yesterday!!! I hope that everyone that is sick feels better!! See you all next week! Oh and we are looking for a soldier, if anyone knows someone that would be willing to do it that would be amazing!

12/2 & 12/9 Weekly Blurb

Howdie Everyone,

For the past two weeks we have been downstairs practicing the Christmas Program. I'm really happy that you all know your parts!! We will have one final dress rehearsal on Saturday Dec. 15 at 10:30-12:30, we will provide lunch after. Please be on time because we have a lot to accomplish, such as making sure all the costumes fit and that everyone has a costume, it would be bad if we were short one. The Program is on Sunday Dec. 16, we will meet during Sunday School time to go over last minute things and get everyone in costume, the Program will start at 11:45, when church normally starts. Hope everyone has an awesome week and I will see you on Saturday. Anyone that is traveling and I will not see, have fun and I will see you when you get back!

11/25 Weekly Blurb

This Sunday we finally finished the lesson on God's grace. We talked about how if we were told that we had to jump over the Grand Canyon we would die because we would never be able to make the jump no matter how hard we tried. The same is true when we talk about saving ourselves, we can't do it. We need God to help us. We discovered that God bridges the gap (the "Grand Canyon", let's say) between our sin and His forgiveness with Grace! We read Acts 9:1-22 and talked about Saul and how he acted before God's grace and how he acted after receiving God's grace. Finally we talked about Ananias and how important he was in showing Saul God's grace. How we can all act like Ananias and witness to the people around us.

One more lesson in this book before we change paths! Elise will be really excited by this, (she picked out the next book). Next week's lesson is how we can tell God thank you by serving others.

Have a great week!!!! Hopefully we will have a big class again, the more people normally means more fun!

P.S. Don't forget the verses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11/18 Weekly Blurb

Last Sunday we combined with Gail's class to go over the Christmas Program and share our new ideas. Elise and I handed out parts and we tried really hard to give everyone a new part. So if you have been the same angel for 3 years in a row, you are no longer that angel. This was everyone will get a chance to play someone new! I sent out letters to those of you that were not there on Sunday, I hope it gets to you in time. If you were not at Sunday School last week and haven't received a letter from me by Saturday feel free to send me an email or call me. This week we should wrap up the lesson about God's grace. Have a great Thanksgiving and see you on Sunday.

P.S. Don't forget that play practice starts this Sunday!!! If you would like to join us for lunch meet in the church basement at 12:00, if not practice starts at 12:30 and ends at 2:30.

11/11 Weekly Blurb

Howdie everyone,

Last Sunday we talked about Gods Grace. To illustrate that we played a game with all of my socks. Danny and Hunter were against Tori and Alli, the object of the game was to try to keep as many of the socks off your side as possible. Lets just say that Danny and Hunter won by a landslide. Since they were the winners they got candy but then I decided that the losers and Brandi L. should get candy as well. This made the winners a bit mad, and made the losers happy but the point was that our lesson is about something you don't have to work for, you don't have to win anything to obtain it, grace is free. The next thing we did was play an interesting version of musical chairs. You had to move a certain amount of seats left or right if you could not do something, such as roll your tongue or burp on command. The point is that there is one thing that none of us could ever do even if we tried our hardest and that is we cannot save ourselves. This was only the first half of the lesson and we will be finishing it up on Sunday.

In other news we spent the last 15 minutes of class chatting about the Christmas program. Elise and I have been talking about it all week and have a bunch of ideas, if you have any ideas please send them in a comment or talk to us on Sunday, we could use any help we could get. The major thing to note though is that practices will start on Sunday November 25!!! We are not sure about the time but you will find that out on Sunday on long with other info about the program.

See you on Sunday!!!

11/04 Weekly Blurb

It has been a busy week and this is just a tad late.

Last week was celebration station, remember to thank Jess for helping us!!

Please remember to come and join us in packing the Operation Christmas Child boxes Friday @ 6:00, it will be in the basement of the church. Last year we had a lot of fun and I doubt that this year will be any different. Also a reminder that Christmas will be here before we know it, meaning that Christmas play rehearsals should be starting shortly. Have a great week and see you Sunday!

P.S. Don't Forget About The Points!!!!!!!!!!! I promise that I will have them up to date on Sunday. You never know what Elise and I will come up with for prizes! We are also open to suggestions! The easiest way to earn points is to learn the verses!!! Please don't just shrug it off!!!!

10/28 Weekly Blurb

Brandi is very tired so a very small blurb:

This week we talked about sin. We watched a star wars clip, played twister, and ate potato chips. We also picked Jess to be the adult in next weeks, "Are You Smarter than a Tween Baptist?" The topic is OCC so check the website to brush up on it.

See you next week at Celebration Station!

10/21 Weekly Blurb

To
day we had a small class. Hunter asked why there was so much stuff in the other room and when I responded, oh it's OCC stuff, he looked confused. So Sunday we talked about OCC, or rather Operation Christmas Child. We even watched a short video about where the boxes went last year. If you don't know much about OCC there is a great page on the church website that you should check out.

Hope that more of you guys and gals can make it next week
!

10/14 Weekly Blurb

This week we learned about the Holy Spirit. We played a game about what 3 items have in common, such as ice cream, chocolate sauce, and cereal all have milk in common. We chatted about the different characteristics of the Holy Spirit and what the Holy Spirit has done in our lives. Lastly we lite a candle and each said one person we would like the Holy Spirit to touch this week and then prayed about it.

We also discussed the Family Night Supper which is this coming Friday, October 19. Instead of attending the puppet show we are having a game night. This may be outside or upstairs and since we are unsure of which one, or both, remember to wear warm clothes and sneakers. It will be a night to just hang out and have fun.

We hope to see you all there and if not hopefully we will see you on Sunday!

10/7 Weekly Blurb

This week was the first Celebration Station. We played Are You Smarter Than a Tween Baptist?!? Gail accepted our invitation to be the contestant. It was absolutely hilarious! Gail was amazing and we can't say thank you enough, but we will try. All in all it was a great day. See you all next Sunday, have a great week, and start thinking about who the next contestant should be!

9/30 Weekly Blurb

This Sunday we started off a bit different then normal. We shared the opening with Gail’s Class. Mostly we practiced the pledges because we all needed to!! We will continue sharing the opening because it is fun, and more importantly we all should be able to say the pledges!

We quickly reviewed what we did last week for Hunter's sake and then we focused on next week, the first Celebration Station! So get ready to play "Are You Smarter Then a Tween Baptist?!?" And we finally have a name, The Tween Baptists! Wahoo! It only took us one month! Hopefully there will be a mid-week update around Thursday. It will be more about the game, rules, roles, ect.

Have a fantastic week!

9/23 Weekly Blurb

The first thing we did was test your brains at 9:00 in the morning. Everyone learned that there really is a 4th of July in England, and that every month has 28 days. Once you knew that we were asking trick questions you thought more before you answered. There is a link to some of these questions at the bottom of the page, so feel free to confuse your parents, siblings, and friends!

After confusing you, we had you draw. The catch being that some one else was telling you how to draw it. We learned that it is hard to understand something without actually being able to see it. Next we watched a tinny tiny clip of Liar Liar, the part where he is trying to call the blue pen red. We learned that Jim Carrey’s character had something in common with Jesus, both could only speak the truth. Then you paired up and one of you was blind folded, the other was responsible for leading the other around, and not to let their partner run into something or get hurt. Since we had to take pictures we never got to the point so we will go over that next week!

Next week we will continue with the most important question you could ever ask. If you think you know what that is, send it in a comment with your name (it’s the yellow form below this) and if you answer correctly you might just get a prize of some sort.

Hope everyone has an amazing week and we will see you on Sunday!

9/17/2007

This past Sunday was Grandparents/Parents day. Gene, Kyle’s grandfather, came to visit us. We went over the points and new stuff happening this year. We played the penny game for a little while and then we went downstairs to socialize with everyone. We still need a class name so any ideas would be amazing!

Coming up this fall we will be spending one Saturday afternoon raking leaves for some of the older folk in our church. We will chat about it more next week, including many particulars such as when, where, and who!

Have an awesome week and see you next Sunday!!!

9/10/2007

So this past Sunday was the first class. We had a blast!

TV commercials are part of most people's every-day life. We watched one and analyzed what it was REALLY telling us. We realized that most commercials say we need something to be better than we are now. Everyone even got a present, a dime, to remind us that even when commercials are telling us that we need to be better, we are all a perfect ten in God's eyes.

We acted out Luke 15: 11-32, The Parable of the Lost Son. We got to be brothers, a father, servants and even pigs. We also read a story about a college student, Joe, who was asked to identify birds by their legs. To him they just looked like legs, he had no idea exactly what type each bird was. Kyle then read Luke 12: 6-7 that explained that God knows all of his people and creatures, even if all he sees is the legs.

Next week remember to bring your parents and/or grandparents! As promised we will play the penny game. We will also test your IQ, but trust us it won't be that hard :) There will be more announcements to tell you about because we forgot some last week.

Have a good week and see you Sunday!
